[Breakin'] Movin' Forward & Cultural Archive

Multiple cities
New York, Seoul, the DMV, cities across USA and South Korea.
Parallel to my commercial work, I’ve been building a long-term documentary archive of hip hop culture—especially the breakin' element—across cities and years. My mission is to preserve its legacy by showcasing the artists, crews, and community that built and sustained the scene. So that it will matter when people ask, “How did this scene get here?” or “What was it like back then?” If you’re an artist, organizer, or institution who cares about preserving culture—you’re already part of the audience I’m thinking about. Many of my decisions are shaped by that long view: how this image will read now, and how it will be seen in years from now. It’s a slow process, requires patience and often not glamorous. I'm currently working on transforming archival and event photography—centered on New York City, the birthplace of Hip-Hop, extended across the globe to South Korea scene coverage across multiple years—into structured, publishing assets that reflect the depth, continuity, and cultural value of the scene.
